WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT DURING YOUR CONSULTATION (MODALITIES)

Sports Massage

Sports massage is tailored towards athletes of every kind, from world class to general gym goers and is broken down into 2 categories:

Pre and Post sport.

Pre is designed to prepare the musculoskeletal structures for prolonged sport/events, thus lowering the odds of sustaining injuries to improperly warmed up muscles. This is done through quick rhythmic superfiscial massage strokes.

Post is designed to flush out the toxic build up that is indicative of prolonged sport/events and assist in the recovery process by increasing circulation. This is achieved through slow deep rhythmic massage techniques.

deep tissue massage

The release of chronically tight and exhausted muscles in order to rid the pain associated with “knots”. Deep tissue massage is proven to be extremely beneficial and effective in manipulating tissue and helping it return to it's normal state.
As the name implies, this form of massage is slower and deeper to ensure long lasting and effective results on the surrounding tissues.

Strapping and Taping

Traditional strapping/taping techniques are used to assist with immobilising injuries and protecting certain joints. Proprioceptive techniques are also prescribed and may be used in conjunction with exercises prescribed to assist in effective postural changes.

myofascial Dry Needling

Dry needling is an effective and efficient treatment technique for the management of musculoskeletal pain and dysfunctions. The treatment involves insertion of thin filament needles directly into a muscular trigger point (knot/hyper-irritable spot) eliciting a twitch response and ultimately relief.

myofascial Cupping

Cupping therapy is an ancient form of treatment in which a therapist places a series of specialised cups on your skin for a pre-diagnosed amount of time. This cup then creates a negative vacuum effect causing suction. Cupping has been proven to help with pain, inflammation, increase blood flow, relaxation and as an alternative to deep tissue massage.

* Private health insurance rebates may apply to Sports Therapy consults if you hold insurance which covers remedial massage
